I haven’t mentioned 3ina Cosmetics or the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick Range since my initial post when they launched a store – out of nowhere – in Covent Garden in March 2016 (which FYI seems like another lifetime ago). As my ‘Which 3ina Lipstick Should You Buy?’ morphed into one of most highest viewed posts for 2016 AND 2017, I thought that it was about time that I revisited this post.
Luckily enough for me, 3ina Cosmetics also agreed and sent across a few products from their bestselling 3ina Longwear Lipstick Range – thanks guys, you are amazing – so I thought since you guys seem to REALLY love this brand that it would be worth exploring the different shades available in this collection especially as I did not like this range the first time I tried it – so I’m quite suprised that this range has become one of 3ina’s bestsellers!
Designed for those who love the application of a lip gloss but want the colour payoff of a long-wear lipstick, the 3ina Longwear Lipstick Range – £7.95 via FeelUnique – is a lipstick lacquer that has been formulated to morph into a matte lipstick with an opaque, long-wearing finish. When I tried the 3ina Longwear Lipstick in 503 way back in 2016, I hated it.
I thought it was a mess as the formulation was too light, runny, didn’t dry down and was extremely slippery and completely wrote it off. 2 years later . . . . my opinion has not really changed that much although I now have a better understanding of what 3ina Cosmetics were trying to achieve with the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick Range especially as they have recently redeveloped their range to make it easier to wear and more long-wearing
I’ve been lucky enough to have been given the below shades:-
- 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 514 – metallic, cool champagne
- 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 519 – purple berry
- 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 520 – muted, lavender purple
which cover the metallic and matte formulations available from this range
3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 514
It’s a bit unfortunate that the first lipstick I swatched was the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 514 – £7.95 via FeelUnique – as I absolutely hated it. I’m not a huge fan of metallic lipsticks in general as they are not the easiest to wear but this has got to be the WORST metallic liquid lipsticks I have ever tried. The formulation was patchy, extremely difficult to apply and next to impossible to get an even coat.
As this 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 514 is not a shade I would normally choose as it is extremely light and beige against my skintone, I do feel that this lipstick’s imperfections were made alarmingly obvious when swatching this lipstick on dark skin.
3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 519
On my lips the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 519 – £7.95 via FeelUnique – is a gorgeous, soft ribena-purple lipstick that is quite stunning. It was very easy to apply on the lips and I felt that the application wand distributed the lipstick across my lips very easily.
I really loved how soft and light this lipstick felt on the lips so I can definitely see what 3ina Cosmetics were trying to achieve with this lipstick lacquer but I do wish that this purple lipstick was a bit more opaque as it did look a little patchy in certain places.
3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 520
I’m not really one for lilac lips but there is something about the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick in 520 – £7.95 via FeelUnique – that is ticking a few boxes for me. As I was applying the 3ina Cosmetics The Longwear Lipstick in 519 on my lips I was not really convinced about this shade as I find that cool tones colours can be quite ‘temperamental’ on dark skin tones but the thin, opaque formulation of the matte The Longwear Lipstick as well as its narrow, doe-foot applicator made applying this shade a dream.
I particularly liked that this lipstick lacquer morphes into a muted, mousse matte lipstick on the lips that feels like velvet and is EXTREMELY comfortable but again I wish that this lipstick was more opaque as I can see bits of my lips peeking through the lipstick
Personally I REALLY like the 3ina Longwear Lipstick in 519 & 520 felt on my lips as it resembled a lovely light mousse on my lips and dried to a soft, matte finish but I don’t like the way that this lipsticks wears on its own. It has very sheer appearance which is at odds with its formulation. I think that 3ina Cosmetics have definitely improved the formulation of some of the 3ina The Longwear Lipstick and would recommend pairing any lipstick from this range with a lip liner to make it more opaque but I think this range needs a bit more work.
Every lipstick from the 3ina Longwear Lipstick range costs £7.95 and is available to purchase from 3ina Cosmetics, FeelUnique and ASOS
