I actually have to apologise for how long it has taken me to get my post on the Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified Lipstick range live on the website but I always tend to drag my feet when it comes to reviewing products I do not really like. I feel like there’s this weird perception that bloggers should only give positive feedback or constructive criticism and if I’m quite honest it can be extremely difficult to think of a political response to describe a range that just doesn’t do it for you . . . mainly because it wasn’t what you were expecting.
Call me old school but when a brand calls a product a ‘lipstick’, I actually expect it to be a lipstick. Calling a lipgloss – regardless of how pigmented it is – a lipstick is quite frankly false advertising and the makeup gods are extremely displeased!
Ok now that I’ve got that off my chest, Let’s move on to the review . . .
Toted as high-shine liquid lipsticks, the Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified Lipstick Range – £19.00 via Debenhams -uses exclusive technology that redefines the lips with a honey-like texture that ensures the thick gloss clings to lips with a latex shine. It’s Doe-foot applicator comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, buildable, lacquered colour that last and stays saturated.
I was lucky enough to have been sent 5 shades from the Too Faced Melted Latex Range to review:
- Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Love You Long Time
- Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Bye Felicia
- Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Hot Mess
- Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Bite Me
- Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Girl On Top
so I’m going to do a breakdown for each shade.
Too Faced Love You Long Time Melted Latex Lipstick
I never though a day would come when a true barbie pink lipstick (or even lipgloss-lipstick hybrid) would look extremely pigmented and juicy on my lips. The world has clearly ended and the makeup gods have all been slain!! I’m getting Nicki Minaj vibes with the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Love You Long Time – £19 via Debenhams -and quite frankly I don’t hate it. I got about 2-3 hours worth of wear from this lipgloss – although I didn’t eat or drink anything during that time and it stayed quite saturated for the majority of this period. I did find that it was a little diffcult to shape the Too Faced Love You Long Time Melted Latex Lipstick on my top lip but I’ve experience worse results in my lifetime.
Too Faced Bye Felicia Melted Latex Lipstick
I really tried to get an even application from the Too Faced Bye Felicia Melted Latex Lipstick but this gloss just does not like me. Despite being extremely pigmented – which we both can’t deny as this lipgloss is throwing purple radioactiveness through the internet – the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Bye Felicia – £19 via Debenhams – looks extremely blotchy on my lips. I just could not seem to get an even, opaque finish with this lipstick as it had a mind of its own and only seemed to want to collect in the corners of my mouth and my top lip. Personally I would advise you to give this lipgloss a miss as it is very difficult to work with
Too Faced Girl On Top Melted Latex Lipstick
I know you might be wondering why on earth I added the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Girl On Top to this review as it’s a clear, transparent gloss and there is next to no point reviewing BUT I felt that talking about the Too Faced Girl On Top Melted Latex Lipstick- £19 via Debenhams – would be a really good way to test out the Too Faced Melted Latex range without thinking about pigmentation or packaging or all the other fancy stuff – I merely focused on the formulation, application and of course longevity. This lipstick-lipgloss hybrid has a every thick consistency that some people might up for as the weather starts to get colder as it locks the lips in a high-shine lacquer coat HOWEVER with great shine comes extreme stickiness so if you hate your hair sticking to your lips, THIS IS NOT THE PRODUCT FOR YOU! The longevity really depends on how you wear it. If you are going to be eating and drinking liquids then you might only get about 1-2 hours wear from this Too Faced gloss but if you aren’t then obviously the Too Faced Girl On Top Melted Latex Lipstick will last a lot longer.
Too Faced Bite Me Melted Latex Lipstick
The Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick in Bite Me – £19 via Debenhams – was actually my favourite shade out of the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipsticks that I received as I found it to be a lot less ‘squeaky’ than the other shades in this collections. It was definitely a lot easier to apply and shape onto my lips for an almost decent swatch. Texture wise, it did still very heavy and sticky on the lips but I feel that it made my lips look quite plump and hydrated so I’m prepared to take the pros with cons. I got about 2-3 hours and faded relatively evenly and didn’t smear everyone – which was my biggest worry.
Too Faced Hot Mess Melted Latex Lipstick
Even though I am not a fan of the Too Faced Melted Latex lipstick’s formulation, there are quite a few things about this pigmented lipgloss that I do like. I think the doefoot applicator’s tip definitely compliments this product as I would imagine that it would be even more of a nightmare to apply if the doefoot was not triangular and developed to suit the curves of the lips. I also really like the packaging for the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick range as it is much sturdier and travel-proof than its predecessors.
The Too Faced Melted Latex Lipsticks costs £19.00 each and are available to purchase from Debenhams
