Do you know that I wasn’t going to review the Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color Lipstick? Don’t ask me why but I got it into my head that this lipstick would be too light or beige for my skintone after seeing this lipstick used on a Caucasian model at a Bobbi Brown Pro Masterclass.
I somehow got it into my head that because this brown lipstick worked so well on her skintone that there would be NO way that it would work on me . . . which is a total makeup faux pas that I really need to apologise for as I hate it when someone tells me a colour wouldn’t work on me without giving me the opportunity to try it for myself so why on earth would I decide to do that to myself?! Obviously my choice to scale back on the amount of tea I drink every day is affecting my brain.
The Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color Lipstick – £24.00 via Bobbi Brown – is a described as a soft pink taupe-brown lip colour that looks like a lipstick but feels and acts like a lip balm for an extremely comfortable, winter-friendly, black-girl friendly nude lipstick. While this lipstick is not big on pigment – regrettably – it is VERY rich in Vitamins E, Vitamin C and beeswax, which leaves lips feeling incredibly hydrated and soft.
As the Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color acts more like a buildable stain, it doesn’t feather or flake on the lips but it does like the lips with a barely there, satin, matte finish on the lips for an easy, understated look that is synonymous with the Bobbi Brown brand.
Personally the lack of pigment doesn’t allow me to LOVE this lipstick even though I do love the shade but it is very easy to wear and I do reach for it when I need a quick pop of colour when I leave the house to do chore.
The Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Colour is quite sheer so I would recommend giving your lips a good scrub and using a lip liner to prolong it’s wear-time, which is about 4-5 hours
