Seems like my search for the perfect red lipstick is still underway. I walked into Superdrug & picked up the L’Oreal Paris Apocalypse Red Infallible Matte Lip Paint yesterday even though I had absolutely NO PLANS to buy any makeup pre-Black Friday.
I am so weak against a 3-for-2 deal on makeup products – it’s just too much temptation for little old me – but I need to build up the swatches in my L’Oreal Paris Makeup Swatch gallery as I realised over the weekend that certain brands are quite weak – and we CERTAINLY can’t have that – so in a way, it all works out on my favour . . . although I have hidden my debit and credit card until Friday so I don’t give in to any more ‘spur of the moment’ shopping trips.
The L’Oreal Paris Apocalypse Red Infallible Matte Lip Paint – £6.99 via Superdrug – is L’Oreal Paris attempt at a ‘firebox red’ bold, matte, lip colour with super concentrated pigments that has been formulated to last up to 8 hours. The Infallible Matte Lip Paint’s applicator has been designed to diffuse the vibrant pigments onto the lips for a smooth, matte finish for a full coverage look.
When I applied the L’Oreal Paris Apocalypse Red Lip Paint, I was so surprised by its formula. What L’Oreal don’t tell you is that this lipstick has a mousse-like formula that feels like a pigmented cushion on the lips that dries down into an opaque, smooth finish that does not tug or dry the lips. It really doesn’t feel like a standard liquid lipstick – which is probably why L’Oreal Paris decided to be so ‘extra’ and invent a unique name for this product.
Personally I get about 6-7 hours wear from this lipstick and my lips do not feel like all the moisture have been sucked out. My one criticism is that this lipstick does not fade in a uniformed manner and goes a bit patchy around the 5 hour mark, clinging to any dry part of my lipstick. I think this is just a failing of the L’Oreal Paris Apocalypse Red lipstick’s mousse-like formula but I certainly would not rule out this lipstick because of it.
The L’Oreal Paris Apocalypse Red Infallible Matte Lip Paint costs £6.99 and is available to purchase from Superdrug.
