Is the new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in Polynesia actually better than the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Benares? My inquiring mind and limited beauty budget wants to know! I’ve been using the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation religiously for the last few years as it the only foundation I’ve found that matches my skintone and undertone perfectly – like seriously NARS took my skin and put it in a bottle – so when I heard about their new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint I really wanted to know if NARS had actually brought out something special . . . or a flop!
The NARS Polynesia Velvet Matte Skin Tint - £30 via ASOS - is an oil free, sheer coverage foundation with a matte finish – the hint is in its name – so this might not be the one for you if you have dry skin (though you could still use this with a great primer). I think the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint sits somewhere between a foundation and a tinted moisturiser, and is quite similar to my Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue foundation in Chestnut – but without the gel texture – You can buff it into the skin easily without it leaving streaks or patches on your faces and as it leans towards the matte side of live you do not need a crazy amount of powder to set it and get a gorgeous velvet-like feel.
Here are a set of swatch comparisons so you can see what this foundation looks like when compared to other foundations in my collection
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint in Polynesia
Unfortunately for me, the NARS Polynesia NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint is a bit too warm *cries into cup of tea* which I’m a bit disappointed – as it means I’m now a little bit out of pocket - but to be honest the chances that this foundation would be perfect for me shade-wise was quite slim especially when you factor in that the Velvet Matte Skin Tint Range only comes in 10 shades . . . for now
