I don’t wear eyeshadow on a daily basis anymore but even I went completely gaga over the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette and that’s saying something as I would NEVER go for an eyeshadow palette without a shimmer eyeshadow in it. I don’t find eyeshadow palettes the easiest things to review as I wear glasses/contact lens. I tend to do my makeup on the go and have destroyed more than one eyeshadow palette during my makeup career, so I tend to forgo eyeshadow from my makeup routine unless I’m going to a wedding and even then I tend to keep eye makeup quite safe and classic.
As I build or choose eyeshadow palettes that have colours that easily compliment each other and better yet show up on my skin without too much prep, I think the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette is a great every day palette . . . in theory.
The Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette – £33.00 via Too Faced – is a 12 eyeshadow palette comprised of matte shades inspired by warm peaches, buttery creams, and rich browns. Each eyeshadow in this palette contains 1.25g worth of product and has been infused with the Too Faced exclusive Comfort Matte Technology so that it “smells like a peaches & cream dream”. The Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette is housed in a shiny gold compact with a large mirror which shuts magnetically and has two gorgeously detailed peach-shaped clasps on the top of the lid so that you open the palette like a clutch or compact mirror.
I’m not a fan of fragranced cosmetics products as a rule but that rule always flies out the darn window when it comes to Too Faced products. I think I just like the way in which Too Faced have infused into scent into their powders and creams that is not overpowering and wear off very, very quickly – because if it didn’t, I would have to forfeit this entire brand.
As I mentioned earlier there are 12 shades in the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette:
- Peach Meringue
- Peach Tea
- Peach Cobbler
- Peach Tart
- Peach Butter
- Just Peachy
- Peach Punch
- Just Ripe
- Peaches and Cream
- Fresh Picked
- Peach Sangria
- Chocolate Dipped
and I think that the eyeshadows in this palette have a decent pigmentation level and blend/swatch like a dream HOWEVER I found I got quite a bit of dry, chalk-like fallout when using the eyeshadows in this palette. Definitely nothing to start a Youtube rant about but enough to make a powdery mess on my dressing table.
I normally would not opt for a completely matte eyeshadow palette so it did surprise me a little how dry the eyeshadow formulation was.
I think the way that these powders have been milled makes certain shades in the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette have a much stronger white or grey undertone than Too Faced originally intended. On my dark skin tone, Peach Meringue, Peach Butter and Peaches looked terribly grey and could pretty much be the same colour which is not appealing in the slightest.
My biggest “con” with this palette is that it is a ‘One Look’ palette.
This means that the shade variation within the palette is so slim that there is not that much you can realistically do with it. If you look at the #TooFacedJustPeachyMattes hashtag on Instagram you will find that almost every makeup look on the hashtag is more or less the same, albeit on different skintones.
Personally I think that this is a great ‘work or daytime friendly’ eye shadow palette as it is very slim, compact and you will be able to mix the shades together to create a fail-safe look but if you want some versatility, this might not be the best eyeshadow palette for you
The Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette costs £33.00 and is available to purchase from the Too Faced Website.
