This week will forever be known going forth as the lipstick and nailpolish week as I didn’t get round to swatching anything else. I have given myself a self-imposed deadline to get through my entire backlog of lipsticks before the year is over so I can move on to doing other products swatches like blushes and eyeshadows but unfortunately it seems like every time I think I am where I need to be, I find a random box under my bed filled with unopened cosmetics.
I will try to include a few more highlighters and foundations in next week’s swatch round up but I can already tell you know that it will be VERY nailpolish heavy.
Fenty Beauty Uncensored Stunna Lip Paint
Personally I would have like the Fenty Beauty Uncensored lipstick to be a bit darker or more blue toned as I feel that it leans a little orange on my skintone – not a lot mind you but it’s not the pure, undiluted crimson red I was expecting. Read Full Post.
NYX Galactic Love Cosmic Metals Lip Cream
While I do think that the finish of the NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in Galactic Love magnifies the lines on my lips – though I do think that’s just be me being a bit “sensitive” – I do think that this is a very good lipstick under the £10 bracket. Read Full Review
Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color Lipstick
As the Bobbi Brown Bare Crushed Lip Color acts more like a buildable “pink taupe-brown” stain, it doesn’t feather or flake on the lips but it does give the lips a barely there, satin, matte finish on the lips for an easy, understated look.Read Full Review
Sleek Russian Roulette True Colour Matte Lipstick
I haven’t worn a Sleek lipstick in years but wearing the Sleek Russian Roulette lipstick reminded me why I absolutely HATED wearing matte lipsticks when they were first introduced to the market. This lipstick feels extremely dry and chalky on the lips and you have to tug on it to apply it. Read Product Review
Sleek OMG True Colour Sheen Lipstick
Unfortunately I’m not a fan of orange-toned reds but I do quite look how comfortable this lipstick feels on my lips and the pigmentation is quite gorgeous. On my lips the Sleek OMG True Colour Sheen Lipstick lasts about 5 hours. Read Product Review
Sleek Smother True Colour Sheen Lipstick
The Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Smother is a berry lipstick with a cremesheen finish but is so disappointing when compared to the other shades in the Sleek True Colour Lipstick range as I felt it highlighted every dry patch of skin on my lips. Read Product Review
Sleek Cherry True Colour Sheen Lipstick
On my lips the Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Cherry feels very creamy and soft on the lips although I do think that the colour sinks into the lines of my lips and accentuates them. Read Product Review
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lacquer Lip Paint in Black Widow (113)
If you are looking for a lipstick that resembles the look of black tar then the L’Oreal Paris Black Widow Lip Paint would probably be a winner in your eyes. This lip paint is very opaque and quite pigmented so you don’t have that awkward experience of seeing your natural lip colour peeping through your lipstick. Read Product Review
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lip Paint in Stripped Brown (213)
What I adore about the L’Oreal Paris Stripped Brown Matte Lip Paint is that it does not feel like a true matte liquid lipstick. This liquid lipstick is more of a lipstick mousse that comes with a comfortable, hydrating matte finish that is very opaque and very pigmented. Read Product Review
Essie Nailpolish in Ring In The Bling (523)
The Essie Ring In The Bling polish is very winter appropriate. It has the exact finish that it not uncommon with crimson, red tinsel although I do think it looks more like a molten, blue-toned, ruby red as it catches the light in a very enticing way.
Essie Nailpolish in Be Cherry (524)
Essie Nailpolish in Suit & Tied (525)
I can’t decide if I love the Essie Suit & Tied Nailpolish or not, as I’m become so used to wearing bright colours over the last few weeks so wearing a nude nailpolish makes me feel a little muted but that doesn’t stop this shade from being gorgeous.
Essie Nailpolish in Social-lights (526)
When Essie designed this metallic slate, grey nailpolish, they really tried to ramp up the Essie Social-lights Nail polish’s prettiness by embedding orange, green flecks to give it an amber glow but unfortunately it just looks a little like dirty snow.
Essie Nailpolish in On Your Mistletoes (527)
I don’t know if I’ve been watching too much American Christmas movies but isn’t mistletoe meant to be green? I feel like the Essie On Your Mistletoes Nailpolish might have missed the mark a little bit and joined the wrong family for Christmas dinner!
Essie Nailpolish in New Year New Hue (528)
I’m not the kind of person to go for violet nails but if I was ever going to cross over to the Ribena side of life this winter, then the Essie New Year New Hue Nailpolish would be my first choice as it looks so gorgeous and vibrant against my skintone
