Can you believe that Kat Von D is finally in the UK? It really didn’t feel real until Kat Von D Magick Studded Kiss Lipstick landed on my doorstep – along with a few other pieces I’ll be sharing over the next few day – but now I’m holding Magick in my hands, it has finally hit home. Kat Von D is actually HERE!
I really want to be super objective with this post rather than get caught up in the whole “new brand” hype as I don’t want you guys to rush over to Debenhams to purchase a product that doesn’t do what it says on the tin so if this review starts to get a little long and ranty, I apologise in advance.
The Kat Von D Magick Studded Kiss Lipstick – £16 via Debenhams – is a “sweet, dusty pink” lipstick that has been formulated with Kat Von D’s colour cushion technology to keep lips feeling velvety soft whilst delivering bold, long-lasting colour and full coverage saturation. I’ve been lucky enough to have been given the Magick Studded Kiss but I’ll be honest and say that it is not a colour I would have chosen for myself as it is very pale and does not sit well on my lips (skin tone wise) so by default I found more things wrong with this lipstick than right.
While I do think the contents of the Kat Von D Magick lipstick itself has a lot of potential, I’m really not a fan of the Studded Kiss Lipstick Packaging. It is very stiff, difficult to remove and I accidently “smooshed” my lipstick on one occasion – so it’s not looking very pristine right now which SUCKS – I know that the Studded Kiss Packaging has been designed to look after Kat’s signature studded cuff but I think they should go back to the drawing board and see if there’s a way to improve its mechanics.
The Kat Von D Magick Lipstick costs £16.00 and is available to purchase from Debenhams.
