I think the Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara has got to be the HEAVIEST mascara I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing. I know I’m prone to exaggerating – that’s just part of my charm – but this mascara actually weighs alot.

I was lucky enough to be sent this mascara from the Rimmel Team, which is really lovely as I don’t think I would have ever picked up the Volume Shake Mascara to review on this site as I’m quite loyal to my favourite two mascaras & rarely use anything else (if it’s not discontinued, then why change it?)

What makes the Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara – £8.99 via Boots – stand out from the other mascaras Rimmel have ever released is that this mascara has a shaker system (patent-pending) that refreshes the volumising formula when you give it a little shake.

Shake it up to keep it fresh!

This basically means that the chances of this mascara drying out is HIGHLY unlikely as the volumising formula goes from dry to creamy whenever you shake it

Aside from the shake formulation, the Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara has a water-gel formulation with a tapered-cut mascara wand to make it easier to reach all your lashes and offer ‘clump-free volume’. On my lashes, it did give me a bit of volume and I REALLY loved the inky black colour of this mascara however what really lets this mascara down is how long it takes for it to dry.

The Volume Shake Mascara takes a good 5 mins to completely dry to the touch and it did smeared just a little on my top lid because of this. This mascara IS NOT waterproof so if you suffer from hayfever, you might want to wait til hayfever season is over before picking up this mascara.

I know you are not meant to judge a beauty product by its packaging but I really think that Rimmel might want to take this mascara back to the drawing board because quite frankly it not aesthetically pleasing – that’s Annie speak for this mascara looks UGLY – Maybe I’m just being petty but someone has to come out an say it.

In the world of Instagram and flatlays, appearance counts more than quality and I think that Rimmel are going to struggle to get a big buzz around this revolutionary mascara as it falls flat on its face when compared to the other mascaras that are out there.

The Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara costs £8.99 and is available to purchase at Boots & Superdrug

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Is packaging almost as important as the product itself or am I being overly critical ??
