Between you and me, I have to admit that launch of Revolution Fast Base Foundation range and seeing the amount of dark skin friendly shades they have released is a bit of a bittersweet moment for me. I am insanely angry that this £5 foundation was not around when I was a teenager just getting into makeup. Teenagers today will never know what it feels like to walk around London and Kent wearing the ASHIEST foundation of life!
Revolution Beauty. Where were you in my time of need?!
Ok all jokes aside, Revolution Beauty has absolutely been killing it when it comes to colour cosmetics in 2018. They launched the Revolution Conceal and Define Concealers early January – which were groundbreaking – and now they are building on top of this with an 18 shade cream foundation range.
The Revolution Fast Base Foundation comes in 18 shades in a range of cool, neutral and warm undertones. The Fast Base Stick Foundation is a medium coverage foundation that has been designed to look and feel like skin. When worn with a hydrating moisturiser – I recommend the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre Nourishing Moisturiser – this foundation makes my skin look radiant, hydrated and flawless. Not much is known about these foundations at the moment so I cannot tell you if they are Paraben-free or cruelty free but I have no reason to believe they wouldn’t be as most items in the Revolution Beauty range are.
As I was part of the campaign shoot for this foundation, I have been super lucky to played with all the shades from the new Revolution Fast Base Range . . . . although I am missing a few of the ‘dark skin’ shades for this review.
I could have waited for them to be delivered before posting this review but I didn’t want to lose my momentum and love for this foundation
The shades I have on hand for this review are the:-
- Revolution Fast Base Foundation in F13 (my “concealer” shade)
- Revolution Fast Base Foundation in F15 ( foundation shade)
- Revolution Fast Base Foundation in F16
- Revolution Fast Base Foundation in F17
- Revolution Fast Base Foundation in F18 (contour shade)
which quite frankly I think is a good mix to give a decent review.
As I have neutral to warm dark skin tones, I am lucky (or unlucky enough) to be able to use the Revolution B Fast Base Foundation in Shade F14 (not pictured) or Shade F15 to achieve my look with Shade 13 to conceal and Shade 18 to contour. The foundation are so creamy and blended like a dream regardless of the makeup applicator used- although I would say that I prefer using the Revolution Conceal and Define Concealers to highlight and contour rather than a cream -you do need to set this foundation with a light setting otherwise you will get a little shiny and the foundation will transfer.
I have to be honest and say that I’m not a fan of the pale pink, swivel-up stick packaging especially on the dark skin shades as it stains very easily and the stains are very difficult to remove. To get the foundation camera ready, I actually had to scrub the foundation sticks with surgical spirit as wet wipes and micellar water did not thing to budge my stains. I can only imagine how badly the Revolution Fast Base Foundations stain clothes . . . . but luckily I only ever wear black or grey so I won’t ever really suffer from this problem
Personally I think the Revolution Beauty Fast Base Foundation range is SO good and is a perfect price point for anyone getting into beauty or just wants to experiment. If you have normal-to-dry- skin and want your skin to ACTUALLY look like skin then this medium-to-full cream foundation is great option for you
The Revolution Fast Base Foundation costs £5.00 and will be available to purchase from Revolution Beauty and Superdrug from the 28th February 2018.
