I think I made a big mistake when I decided to showing off the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette on my Instagram stories with a mini video review before I had the chance to post the review online – rookie mistake – as I completely forgot that my ‘actual’ review on the newest Too Faced eyeshadow palette was not live and it had been sitting in my draft folder for the last week.

When I first saw the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette in the Too Faced flagship store in London, I knew that I wanted to have it. This palette swatches like a dream against dark skin when you compare this against some of the palettes Too Faced have brought out recently, the palette is one of the most dark skin friendly palettes has brought in a while, and I knew I wanted to play with it.

The Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette – £39.00 via Debenhams – is a new adaptation of the iconic Too Faced Chocolate Palette. Each of the metallic shades in the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette have been infused with real gold for extra luxury sparkle while the matte shadows  are quite creamy and have been designed to offer “soft, velvety wear”. There are 16 shades in this eyeshadow palette with 12 metallic eyeshadows and 4 matte eyeshadows:-

  • Money Bags
  • Chocolate gold
  • Rich Girl
  • Cocoa Truffle
  • Decadent
  • Love & Cocoa
  • Old Money
  • New Money
  • Famous
  • Classy & Sassy
  • So Boujee
  • Holla For A Dolla
  • Gold Dipped
  • Livin’ Lavish
  • Drippin’ Diamonds
  • Rolling’ In Dough

As you can see from my images, this is not a shy palette. Every aspect of the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette screams larger than life luxury (quite similar to what you might see on a reality TV show).

I think the way that the metallic eyeshadows have been created make the shimmery shades in the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette stand out a lot more against the matte shades. I do think that the matte shades included in this palette are a bit “dull” as they have a white or grey undertone that is just not attractive when worn (or swatched) against dark skin. Personally I like this palette a lot and I’m just waiting for an occasion to come up where I can wear a vibrant, emerald green eyeshadow and not look overdressed.

The Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette costs £39.00 and is available to purchase from Debenhams and Too Faced.
