Illamasqua Hydra Veil

I honestly can’t remember the last time that a primer has captured my attention like but the Illamasqua Hydra Veil just something else. I can’t even begin to think of a rational way to describe this primer except as a slick tub of goo (which honestly isn’t the most helpful way to describe a product in a review) but Ladies & Gents, the Hydra Veil is SO much more than a tub of goo . . . it is THE ULTIMATE TUBE OF GOO!!!!!

The Illamasqua Hydra Veil – via LookFantastic – is a half hydrator, half primer, self-levelling, futuristic clear gel modelled after the squidgy alien eggs that I used to buy from the corner shop as a child – 90s babies know what I mean – The Hydra Veil is formulated with Microalgae, Plant Extracts, Vitamin C and B3 to instantly hydrates and smooth skin while maintaining the skin’s hydration levels through the day. The intended effect is healthier looking skin with a balanced finish.illamasqua_hydra_veil_illuminating_primer_epiphanniea_review_lookfantastic illamasqua_hydra_veil_illuminating_primer_epiphanniea_review_lookfantastic_2

After I stopped poking the Illamasqua Hydra Veil and actually began to use it, I was definitely surprised by how cool and refreshing it felt on the skin. I do have to admit that I do not use the Hydra Veil every day as I looked through the ingredients and noticed it has Plant Extract which could potentially trigger an allergic reaction but when used every other day, my skin seems to welcome it.

The only thing I can say that made using the Illamasqua Hydra Veil a bit awkward was the tiny little spoon it comes with. It’s ridiculously tiny!!!! I’m actually on the hunt for a spatula (or a Capol spoon) to use with the Hydra Veil so I can avoid using the spoon it comes with but apart from that tiny (and I do mean tiny) issue. I quite like this primer and would definitely recommend it.

What do you think?

  1. This has been on my radar for a while, loved your review hun. Its a shame the Plant Extracts could cause an allergic reaction though :( but i guess its ok to use a couple of times a week when i do actually wear makeup. Best of all calpol spoons are free lol
