It seems like the makeup gods have finally realised that “Nude’ doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. The sort of rose-brown nude lipstick that I would consider a nude lipstick isn’t the same shade that my next door neighbour would chose.

L’Oreal Paris have decided that marketing one single lipstick shade as ‘the perfect match nude lipstick’ just doesn’t work and have called  recruited all their celebrity spokesmodels to choose their own ideal nude lipstick hue. In the UK, 6 limited edition, custom made shades designed by Liya Kebede, Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes and Cheryl Cole will be available to buy from Boots and/or Superdrugs

A subtle hint of brown, perfectly suited to dark skin, adds a contrast of colour for a barely-there, natural nude finish

The minute I saw the Collection Privée press release I knew that the Collection Privée by Liya lipstick was the one I need to add to my collection. I know I already have a ridiculous amount of lippies in my possession – and my lipstick swatch gallery is the perfect testimony to that – but there’s no such thing as owning too much lipsticks and plus this is the MOST sophisticated nude lipstick collection that L’oreal have ever come out with!

Ebony Elegance is a dark brown lipstick with a lustre finish and wasn’t what I was expecting at all! When I think nude, I always think dusty pinks but this is a true nude because I really couldn’t tell that I was wearing any lipstick but my lips were definitely more even. This is not normally the shade I would go for as it does make my lips appear much darker than I’m used to but I could definitely see this as my new lounging about lipstick.

The packaging for this is just to die for. It looks a lot more high-end than drugstore with it’s matte black bullet and gold finishing. Liya’s golden scrawl adds an elegant twist to it and makes it appear very personal – and who doesn’t like a personalised note from a Supermodel and activist?

As you can see from my live swatch video (above) Ebony Elegance swatches a bit stronger than the average lustre finish but it applies like a dream. The only thing I would possibly change is the scent as it does smell a bit sugary sweet but thankfully you stop noticing it after a few minutes.
