Where To Buy

It’s not often an affordable WOC foundation hits the UK highstreet, so I already know that ALOT of people are all over the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation range. I don’t really wear highstreet foundations – I’m a makeup snob, you see – but I’m always keen to spread the word about affordable makeup ESPECIALLY foundation that have a large shade range as foundation is such a core part to anyone’s beauty routine & I need to spread the word.

I saw a few posts on Instagram & Twitter about the new Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation so I popped into the Superdrug closest to my office to have a look at the shade range and get some sort of idea on what shade I would be.

Despite Superdrug having A LOT of shades available and testers, I couldn’t REALLY tell whether Mocha or Espresso would be the best shade for me when I was in-store – because you should NEVER trust the colour on the packaging (as it’s almost always wrong) so I just bought both.

The Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation in Mocha & Espresso – via Superdrug – has been designed by Maybelline to be suitable for normal to oily skin – so if you have dry skin, this wouldn’t be the best product for you – It has been formulated with “blurring” micro powders that help to refine the appearance of pores while absorbing shine to replicate a natural matte finish.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation in Mocha

Even though I think the Maybelline Mocha Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation runs a little to the orange side, it is the only colour in this range that resembles my skintone. When I first put on this foundation, my immediate thought was ‘well this is very . . . liquid’, followed closely by ‘gosh this foundation really is matte’. If you want a foundation that makes you look like you’ve just applied a snapchat feature to your face then go no further than this foundation.

My skin looked like I had applied my foundation and then set it with a loose powder.

During the course of the day, this foundation did perform quite well. It didn’t really oxidise and while some shine did break through around the 6 hour mark, it definitely wasn’t excessive

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation in Espresso

I don’t know what made me think that the Maybelline Espresso Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation would be ANYWHERE near my skintone because it is far too dark but can we all just stop and consider how AMAZING it is that you can even find a foundation this dark on the high street to begin with?

I think I’m going to get the lovely Nana to act as my ‘foundation swatch model’ again so you can get a glimpse of what this foundation would look like when worn on the face as I am not able to do it justice.

Personally I find this foundation a little too light and “runny” for my taste but I’m biased as it reminds me of the MAC Face & Body Foundation and I HATE THAT FOUNDATION!!! I think this would be a good foundation with anyone with oily or normal skin but don’t expect this foundation to completely mattify your face as well as a luxury foundation so do wear a primer underneath it.

You will see some oil breakthrough – not excessive – through the course of the day but this is nothing that cannot be fixed with a light touchup. I think this foundation is AMAZING value for what it is and I’m so happy that the UK highstreet market is finally getting affordable foundations in a wide range that doesn’t make everyone with dark skin look grey.

The Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation comes in 20 shades, costs £5.99 and is available to purchase from Superdrug, Boots & LookFantastic
