How have I managed to get through life without owning a NARS Lip Pencil? Or better yet, how on earth did I manage to won one and not even use it for almost 3 months??? There is obviously something very wrong with me because NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are all that and a bag of chips!!

Long-wearing, super-saturated coverage in a velvety matte formula that nourishes the lips.

Available in 20 shades, and with a £17.50 RRP, these pencils are definitely a luxury item but seeing as I got NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Marina at a fraction of its original RRP at IMATS 2013, I’m not exactly complaining. Enriched with Vitamin E and shaped for an easy application, Marina seems to have been from a past NARS limited edition collection because I can’t find it on the NARS website or any of their stockist websites.

As this is my first time using a NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, I’m not sure if this is the norm or not but GOSH, this lip pencil is sooooo creamy!!!! It’s creamier than a lot of lipstick I own and doesn’t seem to bleed, settle in dry cracks or dry my lips out. Even when it begin to fade away, my lips still feel moisturised and get this natural brown-ish stain that looks like my lips but better.

It is definetly a matte lip pencil but you could make it a bit more opaque if you layered it on top on a lipliner of a similar shade but do really want to know why this is a winner for me? It’s unscented.

The only thing that grinds my gears about Marina is that I constantly need to carry a sharpener with me. I only seem to get 2-3 uses out of this lip pencil before it looks like a stub – flipping irritating – so I can’t ever see this taking up permanent residency in my makeup bag because I’m too lazy to be stressed but it’s a bit of a shame. Have you tried the NARS Lip pencils before? I’m looking to purchase another and I would love a few shade recommendations.
