Just the other day someone told me that they don’t wear foundation and only wear concealer – I nearly feel off my chair in shock – but now that I’ve taken some time to sit and think about it, they actually have a cost-effective point. Personally I only use foundation to balance out the lighter and darker shades on my face but I have no real use of concealers as I don’t have any spots or dark circles to hide so have never used concealers   . .  to  . . well  . . . conceal. Don’t hate me. I use concealers to highlight certain areas of my face that I want to bring attention to as I find it much easier to highlight than contour. I still haven’t managed to contour my nose in a way I like yet!

Unfortunately for my bank account, I don’t use any drugstore concealers at the moment as a) they tend to run out very quickly b) there are not that many products suitable for my skin shade and c) half the time I don’t like the product available in my shade – I’m a tad picky.

I’ve been using the YSL Touche Eclat in No. 6 for almost 2 years as it is the easiest to use on the go & is quite streamlined so can fit into any clutch or my back pocket with ease. I’ve actually been easing away from this highlighter – as I couldn’t remember where I put it – and opting for my MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC50  for my daily highlighting fix. The Studio Finish concealer is a medium-to-full cream concealer that is only one shade lighter than my natural skin tone. I feel that it’s really great for daily use as it is very easy to blend out with a damp beauty blender & as long as you use a good setting powder on top of it, it doesn’t settle in some very odd places. I actually own 5 pots of Studio Finish concealer in three different shades; NW45, NC50 & NW40 – obsessive much – but to be honest it’s second best to my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in shade 13. This is definitely the creme de la creme of my makeup collection and I honestly don’t use it unless I’ve going somewhere special as I find that it’s full coverage formula means I have to switch up my routine just a little but the warmth and glow it brings to my face is second to none.

What’s your favourite concealer and what do you use to set it?
