The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder in Nutmeg is a brown tinted, loose finishing powder. This powder leaves a silky finish on the skin which helps to blur the appearance of pores, fines lines, and imperfections on the face.
I might be playing devil’s advocate here but I honestly do not feel like the Fenty Nutmeg Setting Powder is as great as the beauty community is currently making it out to be.
As I have access to more setting powders than the average person, have continually worn this powder for the last 4 days and worn it over 3 different foundations,
I am able to clearly see where this powder excels and where it has dropped the ball.
To start with the positive, I absolutely adore the finish that the Fenty Beauty Nutmeg Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder leaves on my skin. When I buff this powder over my foundation, this silky finishing powder blurs the appearance of pores and minor imperfections on my face and makes my skin feel like silk to the touch but what really set this powder apart from my other setting powders is how it aids the application of my other face products.
When I layer my blush/bronzer/contour on top of this powder, I feel like my makeup glides on and is easier to blend and buff into the surface of my skin.
Now on the other hand, this powder has a relatively weak wear time compared to most setting powders on the market. I don’t have oily skin but I feel like this powder wears off within 4-5 hours with my skin’s natural shine peaking through at the 3 hours mark – which quite frankly is terrible for a setting powder.
My next issue is with its consistency. While this powder is very silky, it is not very finely milled so you CANNOT use this powder to bake – well you can put you are going to look cakey as heck.
As a face powder, I think the Fenty Nutmeg Setting Powder is good for photos, videos or a quick lunch date but I don’t feel like it would be a great option for a heavy duty event (wedding, night out etc.) or if you need oil control over the entire course of the work day.
